Downtown Portland, the city's center, is located on the west bank of the Willamette River. It is in the northeastern corner of the southwest section of the city and where most of the city's high-rise buildings are found. Portland's downtown features a mile of narrow streets and 20 square, compact blocks that make it highly walkable. There are nine bridges entering downtown and immediately adjacent areas.
Downtown is a buzzing area with indie boutiques selling local brands, and a creative dining scene ranging from eclectic food trucks to high-end seafood bistros. In Tom McCall Waterfront Park, the Portland Saturday Market has live music, while Keller Auditorium stages ballet and concerts. The Portland State University campus can also be found here, southwest.
