Southeast Portland is a crumbling bastion of the middle class and a sad example of its fading glory. Seemingly endless warehouses along the Willamette were once bustling, but roughly half now sit abandoned shells. Some neighborhoods still manage to show their pride with seasonal decorations and maintained lawns, but more and more no longer bother to cover graffiti that inevitably returns.
The tiny bump of a volcano that is Mount Tabor sits almost invisibly below the only green belt in the area. Its open reservoirs are the subject of much political corruption and controversy.
